Flashed ECU- mated to dash and ignition?? or pop and Wow!
«

I asked a guy at Ducati Seattle about a used DP ECU, he stated "As far as the used ECU's go; a used one is electronicaly mated to the dash and ignition of the bike it was on so you would need all of those items together."
Does the same principle go for a stock ECU FLASHED to a DP ECU spec? Or can I just buy a flashed on and pop it in and go, plug-n-play style?
I may have two different situation/questions going on here.

If you reflash it, its considered Virgin so you can use any gauge, if you buy an OEM DP ECU, and its virgin, the same applies, if you buy OEM DP ECU non virgin and it HAS already been mated, then yes you will need the gauges to go along.

but you can then flash it, yes? and then use it with whatever you have...

OK the "flash" removes the immobolizer which does the "mating" to the ignition and gauages. "The immobilizer is disabled on the ecu, the bike won't know the difference as long as you are using your original keys and original dash (there is also an immobilizer in the dash). And because the immo is disabled on the ecu, it will never mate itself to any bike."
So the Flashed ECU will not recognize or care which guage or ignition it works with. I am purchasing a flashed ECU from Ducati Depot, anybody have experiance with them?
This forum is awesome!

send a PM to monstermash. he is one of those who is offering "reflash" services, and can probably answer your questions most clearly.

+1, but by that accord, why buy the guages? just reflash yours and be done with it.

If you're going to reflash, why use a DP ECU (unless you have one laying arround)? If you still need to buy an ECU,wouldn't a (cheaper) used OEM ECU make more sense?

There must not be any difference in some of the ECU's as the first models of S4RS that came out were reflashed units from the factory. My DP ECU has a big sticker on it that reads Multistrada.
I've heard others say the same.

OK, I ordered a flashed DP ECU. I am guessing used with warranty off ebay seller. Removes immobilizer, raises rev limiter.....
Should be here by the end of the week or early next week.

you know we have an in house guy that does that right? He even allows you to do a 2nd reflash based on a dyno chart to customize it a bit, and ofcourse backs his work with warranty...
this was mentioned above. Kind of like betrayal to get all the info from here and buy it from outside the forum when we have a sponsor here that does it. both motowheels and monstermash does this.
