Thanks guys!!

I found the sprocket lock through the want ads.
The exhaust is goign to get fabbed up when I get everything else running good.
Belts and such are coming from Ca-cycleworks whenever I get to call them.
Same for sprockets and chain/oil/filter and misc. maintenance stuff.

No wonder I didn't find any fuel pumps, It looked vacuum operated but wasn't sure.

I think I'm missing some parts on it but I'll look more closely since I found the FREE manual online:

Anyways, thanks a lot guys.

If anyone hears of Norm from Hurricane tell him to send me a pm.

Thanks again

If you want a copy of the 1997 M900 Owner's Manual, I have one in PDF format that I scanned in.  Just send me your e-mail address and I'll be happy to send you a copy.  Anyone else is welcome to do this also.

Have you sent him a PM? His name is "Norm" on the board.

first things first,  please make sure of the year of that engine before you start ordering parts...   This is a bike that appears to have been assembled from parts.  Your questions make sense but the answers will not be as easy as most of the bikes put together by Norm have been a mix of parts and years.

It sounds like you may have bitten off more than you can chew with that bike.

Your best bet would be to sell it to me. Now.  ;)

You'll indeed need something custom done as far as the exhaust is concerned.
There are a handful of 2 into 1 exhausts for Monsters, IIRC Leo Vince is one.
One of their cans could likely be made to fit without too much trouble.

Also, find out what the rear tire is rubbing on, and get it squared away.

Looks like the exhaust is rubbing the tire.  Chopping off that leg burner and putting a suitable exhaust on there will solve two problems at once.  Maybe an Ex-box would be a good choice.

Yea, I'm trying to figure out what kind of engine it has. I believe the heads are stamped with the year 94. It wouls make a difference I'm sure. Got to do some research on this thing mang'.

The exhaust is the 1st thing I'm changing after I get it running right. It seems to bog at around 4000-4500. Haven't torn into the carbs yet.

All in all, I'm pretty happy with my purchase, I admit its kind of scary buying a modded bike, but its half the fun too!!

This board is very welcoming!! [thumbsup]

Peace!!

Lucky man :)

I believe I owned that bike for all of a week  (bought it from a man who refused to sell it back to Norm, and then promptly sold it to Norm)

My only regret: I never got to ride it  :'(
I own several motorcycles. I have owned lots of motorcycles. And have bolted and/or modified lots of crap to said motorcycles...

Is that Gina?!?  I remember her looking completely different.

Actually, you may be right. I though the engine looked like the one on Gina, but a closer look says "maybe not"

I think the bike you bought is in his gallery painted blue.  As you can see, each bike is unique.

ScottRNelson

Hey, that blue one was made with my old gas tank.  Possibly my old frame too.

Those were once part of this "parts collection":

That looks like a hard day at the office right there. . .
