it shouldn't be that hard.  I separated mine with a basic L allen key.  Not sure why yours is so locked up
-Throttle's on the right, so are the brakes.  Good luck.

Are you fixing because they're leaking or because you thought it would be a good thing to do.

If the latter, i would suggest you just leave em till you see a problem.. Just my opinion though.

+1 on that, the seals are pretty durable
If you can see Chuck Norris, he can see you.  If you can't see Chuck Norris, you may be only seconds away from death.

Before splitting the calipers make sure you can get a rebuilding kit, they are disappearing.  Once you know you have a kit, if needed, you can use heat if needed.

seems i am out voted ... its a spare caliper so its just curiosity that i want to ''service it'' all 3 of my bikes are running fine but i have  spares to tinker with.

Its always good to resist the urge to fix it till it breaks.

If it's a spare, go ahead and crack it open, take pics, and make a tutorial of how to rebuild one.

The bolts are usually pretty easy to get off, but I've only done it with the calipers mounted to the forks (long story).

Do/did you have the caliper in a vice or anything?
