Way back when, Rameses got a used tank for his S4 and it interfered with the head/battery box.

I think the tank is from an injected 900 or 750 and those won't work.

Thanks guys.  It appears that my only option is to shim the tank up a bit more, I've got another pad that I can put under the hinge, and I guess I'll try to fix the wiring by soldering a few new wires to replace the crunchy ones that come out from the plastic bung.   The tank I've got, whatever it is from, is in really good shape, so I'd rather not replace it.  The paint also appears original.   As you can see from the pictures, it rubbed hard enough to wear through the rubber cover and mangle the wires also.

So a while ago I'm looking at the pictures, and I notice that one of the vent tubes coming out of the tank has the paint rubbed off right on the corner on the outside of the bend.  So I go look at the cylinder head, and sure enough, another mark is visible on the head.   Another indicator that this is the wrong gas tank.   This forum is definitely worth the price of admission.   I appreciate all the help.

Ya I saw that in the pic too but I figured you already knew.

I Pm'd Robert asking him an unrelated question as the where he got the carbon fiber radiator pieces etc, and he wasn't sure. Anyone know the pieces and where to find, I'd like to add to my S4.

UPDATE!   Yesterday coming home from work the bike started cutting out, real bad.  It made it home, but it doesn't seem to like to run.  I called Santa Barbara Ducati, were I bought it, and they said they would either come and get it next week or I could bring it to them.  They are 90 miles from me.  I'm going to bring it to them tomorrow and tell them exactly what I think is going on.   I'll let you know what the answer is.  I think they will fix it, after all, I do want to buy a Hypermotard in the next year or less, and I'm sure they would like to have me buy it there.  At any rate, I think they will do me right, after all, I've put less than 500 miles on it.

Surprise, another UPDATE.   I get the bike back yesterday, they lifted the tank with a spacer I made for the rear (3/8), and some spacers they made for the front, put some insulation around the fuel pump wires and it appears there is clearance in there now.   So, about 10 minutes into a putt this morning, the bike starts cutting out again, in heavy traffic.   This is really starting to p_ss me off.   I guess I'll have to fix it myself, on a bike I just bought.  I think the wires to the fuel pump are crunched inside, and they did not replace them this time.

I have the same problem with my S4, only it's the fuel level sensor that shorted out, repeatedly blowing the 15A fuse for the headlight, tail light, tach, and signals. I got fed up with it and just cut out the wire between the connector and where it goes into the tank. When the new sensor comes in, (it was ordered at the beginning of May, and is expected to be on BO till the end of July), I will try raising the tank as mentioned above. There is just insufficient room there.
