So, at 880 miles, i dropped my bike off for its first service.  I did my own oil change at 600 miles, so I told the dealer that.  The bill came to $125.81.  The 600 mile service includes:

CHECK BRAKE AND CLUTCH FLUID LEVELS
CHECK AND ADJUST CHAIN TENSION, LUBRICATE IF NECESSARY
CHECK BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS FOR WEAR
CHECK LIGHTS AND SWITCHES FOR PROPER OPERATION
TEST RIDE AS FINAL INSPECTION

So, it looks like I just paid $125.81 for the mechanic to look around my bike, tug on the chain, spray some lube on it and have a joy ride.  Hmmm...  Really I only need them to turn off the stupid service icon, steep price for just that.  I hope we get an alternative way to turn that off soon.  On the upside, they did perform 5, yes five, warranty recalls:

1)  C/S RECALL CHECK FUEL TANK BREATHER
2)  C/R RECALL CHECK COIL WIRES AT CONNECTOR
3)  C/R RECALL CYLINDER HEAD MAIN WIREHARNESS INTERFERENCE
4)  C/R RECALL TURN INDICATORS
5)  C/R RECALL OIL PRESSURE SENSOR

Ah, the joy of Ducati owner ship...   bang head

OK, I can handle that.  I thought I had read somewhere that the first service was worse than that.  Ouch on the recalls though!

It would have been worse if he had paid for the oil change. Basically, it looks like he paid a buck and a quarter to have the mechanic do 15 minutes worth of work that he could do himself. Well, that followed by reseting the service indicator which any decent dealership should do for free...

That just seems wrong to me.

How much more are we talking?  $75?

I did asked, with the oil change the total would be around $250.

This is Cross Country Ducati in Metuchen, NJ, BTW.  They are pretty nice to work with and doesn't complain about any mods you have (so far).

Oh, and yes, it's easy to do ur own oil change.  Save some $ and get intimate w/ your bike.   waytogo  This the the vid I made last month while doing it.

Can anyone provide any details on any of those recalls they checked for you? I have found info on the wiring harness one, but could not find any of the other ones. Let me know.

Thanks!

I paid around $260 @ Gold Coast, NY which included the oil change.

These two are news to me. I had the other 3 done to my bike during the 600 mile service.

4)  C/R RECALL TURN INDICATORS
5)  C/R RECALL OIL PRESSURE SENSOR

Talking about the service icon. I got my 695 serviced for its 7500 mile. Well the 'maint' message that appears on the console is still there Sad . I havent had time to go and get that turned off. I am guessing they should have done it right then. Angry

Is there a way we can do it ourselves?? like some procedure to follow? maybe twist the throttle 3 times and tunr the ignition in a particular order?? Huh?

If you do a search for "maint message" you'll find this: http://ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=24277.0

It should work on your 695. If not, post up in the tech section.

Thanks JB.

I actually called the dealer to check if they just forgot. Well maybe they did, but the guy who was answering the phone(on a saturday) looked up the last service records and said I may have to pay up for it as it seems like I did not pay for such a task of connecting something(assuming DDS) and clearing out the codes.  bang head

Well since I did not have to get my Valve-job done for my 7500 mile(got it done under Warranty almost 10 months ago), he said, it must have not been done or accounted for. Roll Eyes

either ways, will call again and talk to service manager on Monday and see what he says. If that does work, will use the technique posted for "maint message" on here. Till then  popcorn
