If the sidestand is up when you put it in gear, it's most likely the sidestand safety switch.  If it's down, well, I won't go any further with that.     waytogo

hi,

I shortcircuit sidestand switch  so it always send GO message to CPU even if it is UP or DOWN.
But still have same problem!!!

what i did up to now to fix is as follows ;

when i recognized that my bike does not start up (correct key, no error message, open switch and start button), no start up !!!
I think the problem was with ACU, so i found a new one but it did not solved the problem.
then i think it maybe smth wrong with start up switch, i put my red key open engine switch and instead of using start up button, i did a reverse contact using the two  screws below CPU cover. WOW , bike start to work everything was fine , i ride it to an authorised service !!!
they told me there is a problem with start up button and they suggest to put new wires to emulate my solution. I accepted and left my bike there.

After some time they call me back and said thet they put wires and applied the solution. bike starts fine but when they put it to first gear it suddanly stops.

now i am confused about it, i have no idea what may couse this problem?

thanks for your suggestions

Is your clutch interlock busted? Maybe your little button is tweaked..

actualy i did not tested clutch but it think tech serv. might Smiley
could you please tell ali ttle more how i could look if this little button is tweaked or not (and where is this little button ?) coze i have no idea where it s.,

do you think shortcircuit sidestand switch and bypassing kill switch may inhibit the imobilizer so that it shuts the engine when i gear u^? something like a theft protection ?

thanks

Locate the sidestand switch.  Follow the wires up from the switch to the connector.  Disconnect and jump the two wires at the connector.  If the bike now runs when you put in first the switch is defective, or, if you have an ohmmeter, continuity with the sidestand up, infinity when down.

hi all ;

what i did previously (1 year ago) is to jump two wires at the connector to pypass sidestand switch and my bike run well up to now.
by this problem i also let the tech  service bypass the kill switch as well. and i am really afraid of locking the ECU coze of bypasing every switch on starter path. Is that possible. I could not find information for  2004 620 Dark Single disk electrical wiring diagram to see if any of the bypasses i applied has effects on ECU.
Supposing ECU is lock the engine, how could i unlock it - sure i lost my code card-  having red key and label plate.

i think it should not be a kind of  rocket science to fix that kind of problems, seems everybody faces similar ones.

thanks for your advice.
hope we all will fix the problem and then, sure i ll write a book  named "how to fix a ducati monster"

The sidestand switch is just an input (signal) to the ECU.  Bypassing it will not hurt the ECU, but it will allow you to start the bike in gear and/or with the sidestand down.  There is a fix for this, though.  You can buy a pre made harness:

http://www.motowheels.com/italian/myproducts.cfm?parentcategoryid=139|Ducati%20Electrical&productID=1554&showDetail=1&categoryID=141|Most%20Late%20Model%20Ducati%20Electrical&vendoridtodisplay=0&filterFor=&collection=168|European%20Motorcycle%20Parts

or make your own.

Here's a different (non-electrical) idea...

Has the bike been sitting for while? If so, the wet clutch bikes are a little prone to the plates sticking together so when you shift into 1st they stall (my 620 did this all the time if it sat for a while). Push the bike in gear (clutch pulled in of course) for a few feet, then try to start it. Pushing it in gear separates the plates.

OK...back to the electrical gremlin explanations...  Grin

Good possibility waytogo  If you can't or have trouble rolling the bike while in first gear with the clutch disengaged send TripleJ a BLT sandwich.

hi all ;

I tried each and every item you decribed here but still no success Sad(
3 days ago i had a bike which stops while putting in gear, not there is one without a spark.
I turn on the key, kill switch and give a start. but i see no spark at spark plugs. i unplug the cable from spark plug and put the cable near a metal to see if there is some electricty on it but there was no.
I have no idea what may cause this?
any ideas on why my bike might stop sending electric to spark plugs?
ECU?
İnjection Control Unit ?
