Turn 3 at Streets of Willow

A small amount of oil is weeping from somewhere near the bottom of the engine, but I cannot tell exactly where.  If I leave it parked for about 3 days after a hard ride, there will be one small drop of oil on the floor, and there is also some oil on the sidestand.  I checked the torque on all of the case & side cover bolts, but they were all tight.  Unlike cgos4r's problem, I'm pretty sure its not leaking from the seal between the case halves.

I'm now thinking maybe its a leaking seal for the pushrod, on the slave side, since some of the oil is ending up on the sidestand.  The factory manual shows that there is an O-ring that apparently goes between the slave and the case, and there are two O-rings that go on the pushrod itself.  Are these O-rings likely to be a culprit?

Is it simply a matter of pulling the pushrod out, installing new O-rings, and pushing it back in?

Clean everything off reall well to see if you can pin point where the leak is, but to answer your question, yes and yes

Spraying suspect areas with an aerosol powder can help you pin point the leak also.  The leak may also be coming from the slave cylinder.

I had the exact leak that you describe on my M695 at about 7k miles.  I replaced the two small orings on the pushrod and it went away.  The larger oring between the slave and the motor is just for sealing out dirt and there is a weep slot there anyway, so that oring is not your issue.  In case it's something else, the footpowder trick works like magic.

If you need to replace the pushrod orings, slide them on very carefully and grease the orings once they are in their slots.  I like to put a very small dab of grease on the end of the pushrod where it meets the pressure plate bearing.  If the pushrod is stuck to the pressure plate bearing, you might need to remove it from the clutch side instead of the slave side.  Careful not to dislodge or damage the little compression seal on the clutch side next to the needle bearing (might want to just replace it if it's still original).  Don't pull the clutch lever while the slave is out!
