i have a 15 tooth sprocket on my 99 m750.
should i go back to the 14 tooth that it came w/ because i think the previos owner was trying to get more top end.
i feel it is hurting my bottom end response !

All opinions welcome [coffee]

A 14 tooth will give you more low end, and you probably will lose a bit of top speed.  Increasing the rear 2 or 3 teeth will do the same.

'99 M750s (at least in Australian delivered form) came with 15/41 gearing as stock.

_Almost_ everyone who tries a 14 tooth front prefers it (though there are definitely some people who don't, who usually say it "buzzes" too much at highway speeds).

Personally, I like the 14 tooth front, and have experimented with dropping the gearing even further, I'm currently running 14/43 on mine - it's now a little borderline, I'm sometimes wishing for another gear when cruising at 130-140kmh (80-90mph). I don't often get the opportunity to safely sit at those speeds though, so I'm happy enough with the buzzy top end in exchange for better low down ooomph...

It's just a 10 minute job to change so if I am going on a long ride I put the 15t on but for around town in the stop go traffic, I use the 14t.

I am going to be installing a 14T front real soon and was wondering if anyone had a good tutorial on that or any tips on getting it done.

Sorry for thread jacking

Depends on what bike you've got, this may help.

I have a 620 with a 14 on it, and will be going back to a 15 soon. I don't notice THAT much difference at low speeds, but at highway speeds the engine is turning a full 500 rpm faster. Also, there is considerably more chain noise. That in itself wouldn't  bother me, but I got no more mileage out of my DiD Erv with a 14 than I did the stock chain with a 15.
