Local news is reporting a car on bike accident with a fatality in College park this morning.  Though that's about it on the info, the images and odds tell me it was the rider that expired.

Some sort of cruiser, probably an HD.  Check on your cruiser buddies, I hope none have gone missing.  :-[

Surprising that they even reported it. Must've snarled traffic pretty bad.

That sounds like the opposite perspective from this article, which doesn't use the term "victim" but instead makes it sound like the rider was at fault.  Stronger emphasis on "crossed his path"!

Bizzare if you ask me:

"The driver of the motorcycle, William Gene Morris Jr., 40, of Beltsville, was killed when he collided with a two-door car, said Prince George's County Police spokeswoman Sgt. Michelle Reedy.

The northbound car had stopped at a red light in the median of Route 1, preparing to turn left onto Metzerott Road, Reedy said.

When the light turned green, the car turned left. Morris, driving southbound, struck the car which had crossed his path."  (emphasis mine)

And this:

"Police don't know what caused a collision that killed a motorcyclist Thursday morning in College Park."

Unless the motorcyclist ran a red light and the car driver had a green arrow, it's pretty effing obvious what caused the collision.   Isn't it?  Or am I missing something here?   Didn't the car's driver fail to yield, violate the right of way of the motorcylist, strike him, and kill him?

Nobody around here knows how to drive, so why should newspaper reporters?  They probably write how they drive; ignorant and stupid.

NBC tv also reported it as the car running a red.

The gazette version is very ambiguous... 'the light'  Which light?  Green for all traffic? Just a green turn arrow?

Love the reporting...

At least this one doesn't actively imply the motocyclist was at fault, when they were not (we don't know on this one yet) like they did when that guy from Colemans got hit on 210 by a car theif running a red while fleeing cops.  NBC4 got a nasty letter from me on that one
