What is a headlight - I thought it was just for show.

Riding in the dark, next you'll be telling me you ride on the dirt  Grin

We all remember the incident on the road to Tarana, don't we. Those 500m of dirt almost represented an impassable barrier  Smiley

I rode out there last weekend and we took "Shooter Hill Rd" to Oberon. It had about 4 Km of dirt rode that they were regrading. I had to wait for the go-ahead to follow the roller over the newly dumped clay and gravel. It was as slippy as hell! I think that by the time I'd travelled 1 Km I pulled out in front of the grader because he was travelly just too slow. Any gravel/dirt road fear is now long gone! BTW that road is an awsum trip!

the voucher for 10% off still works....and free international shipping....these guys and their globes are bloody brilliant.

it's winter this Saturday and for all the new guys on the site...

consider upgrading your globes....better visuals and better safety and really responsible mod to the monster (an LED back light and good brake pads are also 'responsible' mods)

And add the Supabrake Flasher unit to the LED rear and you will grab the cagers attention even more....   Shocked

In regarding to headlight upgrade,
anyone know the dimension for the headlight glass len of a standard monster headlight unit?
i am looking for some substitute clear len for the headlight from other motorcycle parts if possible..
or else ultimately are there any shop that i could custome make a glass len around Sydney?

I think you'll find the stock reflector with a clear flat glass plate in front of it won't work "properly". The stock headlight uses the shapes in the lens to redirect the light to give it the "legal" pattern - where there's a sort of horizontal cutoff to the right (where oncoming traffic is) and an angled up cutoff to the left (where the glare isn't going to affect oncoming traffic).

If you want the clean look of the flat glass, try hunting for SV650 headlights - some of them (not the very first versions, but also no the newest ones) have flat glass (or plastic, I suspect) front "lenses" with multifaceted reflectors to give them the legal bean pattern. You should be able to pick up the whole headlight assembly from a wrecker for about 1/3rd what Ducati charge to fix a cracked lens...

(And please don't ride around with the stock reflector and a fat lens, I'll curse you and your parenthood everytime you glare in my eyes as we pass by at night...)

I should get one of those lamps form Monsterparts now that I don't have my HID lamp.

Hey Spider, just a quick big THANKS for your posts re H4 globes - UK website thing. Just ordered some AND used the discount code you supplied as well. Been a member for less than 24 hours and may have solved a problem that's been bugging me for ages. Fantastic help. I owe you one. Will let you know if they make the difference I'm hoping for. Great simple tip tho...now for solving my standard factory pipes issue...
Cheers, Tim
