I've done a few searches and was unable to find a answer.

How in the world do you take the stock header off of the vertical cylinder?? is there a known easy way to do this?

any input would be greatly appreciated  [thumbsup] [beer]

Thank you,

First, gather some squirrels. Then, train them to use metric handtools and to follow your instructions. Last, you send them in your bike behind the rear cylinder to remove the header. It helps to have plenty of nuts(peanuts, cashews) on hand to keep them happy and motivated.

Seriously, you shouldn't have to remove the header from the rear cylinder. There's a clamp connecting the exhaust manifold to the pipe leading straight up from the catalytic converter (udder). Loosen the clamp and everything else. The udder should drop down pretty easily.

the exhaust that I purchased requires removal of the vertical header. It replaces the whole thing.  I was curious if there was an easier way to go about the removal and figured that I would ask before diving into it. so with that said to anyone if you have any helpful tips\trick I would appreciate it greatly. it seems to me that it would be a huge PITA to get to and thought there has to be a better way than im thinking.

again thanks for any helpful input. [beer]

Ah, I see. I didn't realize any of them were made that way. I have a full Termi system (that will be up for sale very soon, by the way) that utilizes the rear stock header/manifold. I know some of the others do and assumed they were all like that. If you decide to try to get in there and remove the rear header, be careful. The nuts on the header bolts are some soft metal and look like they would strip pretty easily.

PM sent.

Support rear frame of bike, remove rear shock, remove header.  15 mins tops.

I love working on bikes....so easy and simple.  Everything is right there

This guys right remove top shock mounting bolt pivot shock away.make sure you have 1/4" drive wobble head extension with 8mm socket. of coarse block up motor 1st. when you tighten new header make sure you adjust it in swing arm hole mine was really close to rubbing. Bike probably wont idle until dealer sets ecu up at, least with mine. Good luck. Tom.

Are you referring to actually slipping the pipe out after the nuts are removed? If yes, have a large friend push down on the rear of the bike to compress the shock and the pipe will come out, That's how I did it!
To remove the right side header nuts, a long extension with a swivel will do it.
