Nice Ride R26 and R555 ends with a flat tire

Today's ride to R26 and R555 was awesome.  Worth the ninety or so miles to get to R26.  We were having fun in the awesome corners until at the gas station one of the riders noticed my back tire was showing threads. 

We went on R555 and after 40 or so miles I felt wobbly in every turn and the gravels were just messing up the ride and I started freezing for good reason.  After pull out of another gas station, rider pointed out that I had a flat      
Had to tow the car 35 miles using AMA membership and then had  my good friends (riding with us)  father bring his pickup truck.

I have taped the ride with GOPRO cam for the first time.  The sound came out sounding like fart and is horrible but the video picture is good.  I will try edit it one of these days and post it.  I will also try to extract pics from the video and share with you the nice corners there      

All in all an awesome ride day with the exception of the flat tire.  (Only had this tire for 6000 miles Pirelle Diablo.  Just had it mounted in May and now I have to get another tire   :'(  broketites is hitting me up again )

ab, sorry to hear about the tire situation but at least you got in some of the ride and you didn't go down.

You made it home ok it seems so that's a plus.

As far as the tire goes, I d be very happy to get 6,000 miles out of a front or especially a rear tire.

My magic number seems to be 2,000 miles and it's time for a new rear on the " R ." I usually go ahead and change the front too , that way I know I've got the same tread basically for the duration of the 2,000 miles.

2000 miles only?  Ouch.  That's gets to be expensive for street riding. What brand/model of tire is that ?  I usually average about 8000 with the Pirelli diabolo tires.

I have to research the double compound tire that is someone mention to me.  It seems those type of tires are expensive.  Got to figure out what brand other riders like.  Time to switch to another brand.

So you started a ride with other people with a tire that was bald in the center?
Why would you do that? What would have happened if you had a blow out mid corner, and took out one of your riding buddies?

You need to be more aware of your bikes riding condition before a ride.

To clarify, I did tire check before the ride and there was no bald spot at all.  In addition, I had the bike on a stand and had worked on the chain prior to the ride and did check the tire condition as well as the pressure.  I did my prep work before the ride.

1st 2,000 miles were on Pirelli Diablo Corsa track compound tires.

2nd 2,000, Pirelli Dragon Pro, dual compound I believe, for the street.

I can't imagine 8,000 miles .

That would be 2 years riding on the " R " for me at least.

Just say you knew it was shit and hoped to get a few more rides out of it.  That we understand.

ab, if you looked at the inside of a motorcycle tire and felt the thickness you would not believe how thin the tire is.

I was amazed when I looked and felt how little thickness there is between the inside and the road.

I'm surprised a motorcycle street tire lasts as long as it does the way we ride on them.

If I knew it was "shit", I would not go on a long ride (300+ miles) and risk being stranded as I did. 

As for the brand, I mentioned it to find out what others were experiencing with that brand.  And find any other recommendations.

If I only got 2000 for my street tire, I would have quit riding long time ago.  Just not economical for me.
