It might depend on where you are in Ohio, or who tags you. Towns with municipal courts (esp mayor's courts) often deal with the ticket on the date on the back. I don't know about county, state or larger city courts.

Let me ask you this. Did you get anything for your $500, or could you have done that yourself?

That's like rolling the dice.

The court system is a boys club. You pay to play. I paid.

I could have lost my license for a year if the judge wanted to throw the book at me.

I did my research on the judge I was facing; walking in without an attorney was ill advised by several attorneys which my cousin research for me, who is an attorney himself locally.

Like I was saying to nakid. All states are different.

You said that to him on his conversation; you didn't mention that to me when you were quoting and disagreeing with what I was saying.

I'm not disagreeing, I'm just telling it like it is/was for me.  ;)

Kinda like court. I'm stating my facts, you're stating your's.   :D

Working with several hundred attys may have it's privileges. See if one will represent you pro bono...

We are doing enforcement of securities laws...as much as they are awesome at what they do, they know nothing about traffic laws.

Now I just need to find an atty

In NYC, and, AFAIK, the rest of New York State, the date on the ticket is when you must either plea or pay.  If you plead innocent you get a trial date, no jury.  In NYC and some other municipalities there is no plea bargaining, you are either guilty or not.  As said before, every state and sometimes municipalities within their state have their own rules.  During the federally mandated 55 MPH national speed limit there was one state that was issuing $5 emission 0 point tickets to avoid loosing federal highway funding.

Montana

cause they have huge stretches of roads that didn't have speed limits (or they were 85 or 75) and they didn't want to needlessly limit it.

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

You all talk like people with lawyers get good deals because the court system is rewarding them for paying into the club....like everyone in the system secretly look out for each other.

Most defense attorneys I know hate the newbie snotty state's attorneys and most state's attorneys I know hate defense attorneys.

The deals come because a good defense attorney knows the law and the local court and can force the best for a client.   Period.

But everyone loves their conspiracies and believing groups are out to screw them.

well maybe that's how it works on the Maryland bar, but here in Virginia, we definitely screw people all the time.  take the docket and roll dice in chambers before everyone rolls in.  if anyone has a funny looking or sounding client, we make sure they get a full trial so we can all snigger at them...
