I want to dump my airbox for K&Ns but I live in portland and am a year round rider and the forward facing filters worry me with all the rain. what do you guys think?

Ducatiloo

I've had pods for almost two years and have ridden in heavy enough rain that I couldn't see more than 15 feet, never had any issues with the water getting into my engine.

Look at the TPO beast kit..I love it.

Hmmm... maybe I should look at swapping out my lidless air box for pods. I road through a torrential downpour one time and the engine flooded.  :(

I like the looks of it but it seems pricey for a couple aluminum velocity stacks and two K&N filters. I know your paying for all the engineering they put into it but still....

I know but its soo worth it.. Oddly enough I didnt buy them for the looks or the sound. they just make maintenance and valve adjust so much easier.

The rest was just a bonus. If you can find stacks somewhere else let me know. we'll start a business, undercut them by 50% and still make a killing.

theres a few compnaies that sell velocity stacks, all you have to do is find one comparable. ducati even makes carbon fiber ones for the 999.

CA-Cycleworks sells their pods for $58. Thats 2 pods for all 2vs. beat that. no velocity stack though. but honestly i dont know if there is a real difference with or without them. Remember the dyno sheet was made by TPO....

EEL

I've never ran without stacks so I cant comment if they make a difference.

That being said, I wouldnt run them without stacks.. feel free to try and let us know how it turns out.

I think the CA-Cycleworks pods are intended to be used with the stacks that are on the stock airbox.

The stacks in the stock air box are pretty lame.  They add some length so it smooths air flow but the lip on them is pretty small.  That rolled lip is the part that really helps the air flow smooth out.  As mentioned, if you strap a small filter right to the edge it may not matter that much in the end.

not having stacks probably wont have any impact on high rpms but I'd be more concerned about idling.
