Cleaning up hoses

08' S2R 1K. I have 2 hoses coming from under the tank. The heavier ( bigger) one runs to the front left, while the smaller one runs down right rear. I am assuming that one is vent and the other a drain. Is there any reason not to slice these with a "Y" connection and run them down the right rear. I am trying to clean it up a little. There are hoses and wires all over the place. I can see no reason why the tank would need draining and venting at the same time. Any other tips would be much appreciated    Thanks [moto]

Are you talking about the hoses associated with the emissions canister removal? Then yes, splice away!

Just an update for you. I checked the workshop manual and in Chapter L2, pg 11, both the breather and drain hoses are connected via a y-connector under the tank which connects to the hose that goes down to the bottom of the bike.  [thumbsup]

Not really sure, my dealer removed the canister before delivery. My guess for the larger one is yes. It ran from the underside of the tank (right side) all the way to the front left where the canister once was. the smaller diameter tube appears to have been just for drain. under the tank , one say's bleed and the other says drain. I am going to splice them under the tank and out of site. I think that with my aftermarket gas cap, there should be plenty of venting if indeed the splice could cause an issue.

Bikes that do not have the emissions canister from the factory, do indeed have the breather and drain hoses connected via a y-connector below the tank which connects to a hose that runs down the rear, right side of the engine just behind the clutch housing. You'll be fine doing this.
