My tail light on my 2002 Ducati Monster 750S i.e. doesn't seem to engage when I use the brake lever.  Would this be a fuse problem?  Or would the problem run deeper than just a fuse?

is it just the hand lever brake or also the footbrake that don't seem to work?  I would check fuse first, then check bulb(s).

If it works with the rear brake lever but not the front brake lever then its probably a bad switch. Known to happen. Radio Shack has a direct replacement if your good with a soldering iron.

Could be:

    Bulb, the bulb is a twin filament, the brake light filament can be bad.

    Fuse, #7 if your horn also doesn't work.

    Switch, connectors from switch, switch adjustment.  As stated previously, try the
    other lever, it is unlikely both are bad.

    Bulb in backwards or bad contact in socket.

I had a similar issue, except the light was staying on. Here's the thread;

It could be you're switch or like others have said, check the bulb for a burnt filament and the connection. For some reason the bulbs seem to go bad pretty quickly. I'm on my third one in two months.
I just installed this one:

Seems a lot brighter than the ones I would get at autozone and a better quality bulb in general.
