S2R-S4R ENGINE SWAP

So I have this 05' S2R 800 that I rescued from salvage. I am thinking of taking the 800 out and dropping the bigger S4R engine in. Is my frame compatible with the bigger motor? How much work am I looking at here? I'm not really sure in which direction to go with on this bike. Is it cheaper to just fixer up, sell her then use the proceeds towards the purchase of an S2R 1000 or S4R.

My guess would be no, but the experts will let you know. Also the guys that think they know everthing will chime in as well. :D  I would go with your second choice.

i have heard through the grapevine that there is a frame crossmember in the way on 2 valve bikes that doesnt allow the 4v verticle cylinder to fit without modification
obviously the heads on the 4v are huge in comparison


maybe said experts will confirm or deny this

I have looked into dropping a 748 engine in my S2R800.  I can be done, however it would be much, much cheaper to buy a new street figher...seriously, it would take mega $$$$ to get it in and get it to work right.  That being said, for the cost of a 4 valve motor you could pick up a used 1000cc 2 valve, do the heads, pistons, crank, clutch and flywheel and have a really mean 2 valve under you.  This will be my next project.

Too much work.  Fix up the bike as is or maybe swap in a 1000 2v but speaking from experience swapping from 2v-4v is a LOT of work.  800 to 1000 could be done in a day given the tools/ability.

^^ What he said. Just go with a 2-valve 1000, it's cheaper to maintain, you don't have to worry about coolant and shit... it should fit right in there no problem.

if you were to drop a 2v into an SBK frame instead though... now that would be unique.

even if you could do the work, dont forget your still missing ecu and  a wire harnesses amoung other things.

Yeah, looks like I'll just go with the 1000 2-valve. I started getting a headache just thinking about all the work involved in dropping the 4v in. Really eager to get on the road with this beast!

Multistrada 1000 & 1100 motors (HM too) have the narrow swingarm pivot mount so they bolt into SBK frames BTW.  And....you could use an aftermarket ignition module and some FCR flatslide carbs too!  Hmmmm....
