bobby zagame, who owns the shop, shut it down because he got the shits with nfi.  apparantly started when nfi sold the remaining 1098r (quite a few of them i'm told) off for $42k to get rid of them (they got some out of the factory cheap that were languishing there) but only thru their dealerships.  bobby is a very wealthy man independant of the car and bike dealership hobby he has going - he's part of the hotel owning zagame family who make lots from pokies - and he takes no shit.

zagames always had a good deal there - everything was on consignment - bikes, dp stuff, etc.  anything nfi supplied.  no other non nfi shop in aust got that.  i dare say he's got some legal avenue to follow too, he's way too smart to let them get away with it i'd think.

i'm told peter stevens are taking the ktm dealership, maybe running it out of the same building.

Was in Peter Stevens the other day.  They are getting lots of grey import Monster 400 in.  8 -12K for a 400 Monster with average 16K on odo.  Not sure it's a good thing.  Good for learners I suppose. And of course limited warranty as they are second hand.

Thanks for the inside info Brad.

As a former employee of a Dealer, NFI really have no Idea!

As the company I was working for struggling to sell it's ancient stock of bikes and was basically ready to fold, I had one of the Managers from NFI call to discuss the Ducati 09 range of Apparel, this person was very concerned we haven't sold much of the new range, I explained the situation to this person, I advised that the store was closing in about 5 weeks, They then went on to say we should place a large order for a the Store.

I asked this person what part of we are closing down did they not understand, the company is broke, the owners have a huge Tax bill, I couldn't even order spare parts!

They insisted we place a multi Thousand $$ order for apparel, Big closing down sale they suggested, I kept saying I can't even order an oil filter if someone wanted it, why would I want to order grossly overpriced 09 Apparel when I am grossly overstocked on 06/07/ and 08 stock that we can't move now and also when I can tell the customers to purchase it from the USA for less than half the price?

The Silence from the other end of the line was deafening

This person then starts up about this is not helping other dealers, and you can have a big sale and go out with a bang [Click]

I hung up

There dealer was going broke and going under, and all this person wanted to do was sell more apparel.... Roll Eyes

And they wonder why no one wants to take on Ducati, or why Dealers are dropping it.

Hi Ita

Back at work but don't know for how long?

Major redundancies across the board.  I'm hoping (maybe) that there may be some coming our way in my section.  Wouldn't mind a nice long holiday to ride my Monster now that summer's nearly here.   [moto]

I called in on the pushy Thursday morning...

The place was busy...  People walking out with tyres, shopping bags etc...

All the bikes had ride away prices on them...

If this has been caused by NFI I hope Zagame bends 'em over and give's 'em the finger!!!

yeah....but anything connected with NFI had such a high cost price that cost + 10% wasn't greatly different. The KTM and other brands (tires, chains, boots) was were the savings were. Didn't think much in the way of bike prices either. My credit card remained safe!

Howdy All.

Well I did manage to get something, set of CF chain guards for the S2R.
But that was about it....apart from a certain 848 nice....bank balance said "No".

Although not a frequent visitor of Zagame I'd like to thank the Spares guy for his great service, sorry dude I can never remember your name.

Yes still one other freelance Ducati place in Ringwood, so might I suggest we frequent it a bit more, extra business keeps business. We don't want a monopoly here in Vic, or anywhere else for that matter.

I popped in to the shop on Saturday to say goodbye to the guys and picked up a little more bling.  Grin
FYI The shop at Ringwood: Metro Ducati has moved down the road. It's now located between Yamaha and P.S.
The Bling Meister there is Brian. Cool Some of you may have met him at Moto One, Zagame's or on Turismo.  Wink
