A Most Magnificent Monster
Five Counties Loop

I took my first official ride on my Monster this past weekend. Though I had been out on a few short runs with the bike, this was the first ride with other bikes. Saturday's weather was fantastic as we (myself, friend on a FZ1 and a couple on a Busa) started at Castaic Junction (LA County), heading west towards Santa Paula (Ventura Co), via Guiberson and Bardsdale. From Santa Paula, up and over 150 to Ojai (made slow by a bicycle race...some cyclists have difficulty with the single file concept). From Ojai headed north on 33 towards Ventucopa and Cuyama ( Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo Co.s) to the 166. Crossing into Kern County, we took Cerro Noroeste Road to Frazier Park (probably my favorite road in So Cal). From FP, we took Old Post Road past Gorman and briefly on the 138 to Old Ridge Route. Up the hill to Sandberg and Pine Canyon Road accross to Three Points. Lake Hughes, Elizabeth Lake, and Green Valley, finishing up back in Castaic via San Francisquito Cyn Rd.
A nice 230 mile loop for me. I am firmly in love with the bike! Handles really well with fantastic brakes...high speed is rough though with no wind break and stiff suspension.
