Has anyone with pod filters decided to ditch the crankcase breather filter and reroute their crankcase ventilation back to the vent tank and back into the engine? I've been having some issues with combustion vapors out of my breather filter and have had the bike thoroughly checked out and it seems to be just a normal (not excessive) amount of blowby. After a good tune following a head replacement the amount has lessened considerably, though it is still there.
So my idea is to reinstall the stock crankcase vent hose back to the vent tank, use the original vent tank outflow hose that used to run to the airbox with a one-way valve that splits into two smaller hoses that feed back into each of the intakes below the velocity stacks and filters. This would essentially give me the same running configuration as the original airbox did, with any combustion vapors being vented back into the engine to be reused. Might improve my gas mileage a tad and will definitely keep the environment (and the EPA) a little happier. Best of all I won't be sitting in a cloud of combustion vapors anymore...
Any thoughts?
Thanks!
