Assuming they did a decent job it would work, but you would still need a waterproof case, battery lead with fuse and wiring to go with it.  If you count time labor and materials purchasing one of these may be worth it.

Thanks for the link. I didnt know you could buy one for $60. Everywhere i saw, they were selling them for $90+
