ok, so 13 before dover SUCKED.
jammed, and traffic lights

afterwards it turned into 1 and i could deal with the tolls. when it split off again there were more traffic lights. [bang]
the bay bridge tunnel was very cool, but i won't be going that way again.

after all that we got here about 30 min after i thought we would, so the drive wasn't much longer than if we had taken 95, it's jsut the lights and passing through towns where the limit dropped to 35 and people wouldn't get the hell out of the left lane that killed me.

You'll find US13 to be a pleasant trip to the Tunnel, south of Dover, north of Dover not sure how bad the traffic will be it merges with Rt. 1 for awhile. I have not been over there for awhile, but Rt. 1 is probably a better choice through Dover than US 13, then back onto US13. I suspect beach traffic is down, so it might not be too bad and certainly better than I-95. You might consider taking 301 then cutting over to US 13. You did not say where in SC you are going, south of Norfolk pick up US 17 to US 158 to I-95. If you told where in SC you are headed I might have a better route from Norfolk. - Gene

we are in myrtle beach. apparently it's bike week. most of the bikes that have gone past the hotel are more than obnoxious.

I think we need some PSAs (or a fvcking rocket launcher) to tell drivers the left lane is for overtaking slower traffic. No amount of flicking my high-beams, which i shouldn't have to do, or shaking my head when i get around them makes these idiots get it. My new favorite, on the bike, is get in front and then start pointing to the other lane, to the right, with my blink switched on. Does it work? usually not, makes me feel a little better till the next a-hole on the phone, or asleep in the left lane.

Stupidity should be expensive and painful!

word. if you want to crash overnight i have a garage, and an extra room.

the train is also a 3 min walk from the house, so no need to worry about driving.
