Will the changes coming to the 2010 HM 1100 EVO engine also be in the 2010 M1100?

It lists the 2010 HM as having 5 more horse for 95 total.  That is the same as the 2009 1100.  My guess is it would be the same engine.

But the HMT EVO is not a DS engine like the Monster 1100...

At first I thought you had to be wrong, but I can't see the second spark plug in the pictures.  Maybe it is not a dual spark.

Have you heard/read something about the DS going away?  Of course it is still in the 1100 Monster and Sport Classic GT

Nothing concrete really. I seem to remember being told that but can't remember where. Anyway, the 1100 EVO is the latest iteration and isn't a DS, so it makes sense that it is the future. The 1100 Monster and Sport Classic may get the DS this year, but that's probably it. No way Ducati would carry 2 1100 motors.

That makes sense.  I wonder why they decided they didn't need the second spark plug.  I guess the head design is good enough that a second plug isn't necessary.

They have carried the 1000 DS and 1100 DS for several years now.  The 1100 coming out in the Hyper around 2006 or 07.  So I agree the Monster would get the latest version, but it may take more than a year to get it in there.  They may wait longer until some of the new bike buzz has worn off of the Monster.

I've read about it regarding the Hypermotard:

the new 1100 engine will no longer be "DS" (Dual Spark, as in my S2R1000) but just one spark for Cylinder...they say is slightly better (lighter?)...I wonder what are the advantages to have a "Ds" then...( Or which were when they projected it)  Huh? Huh? Huh? Huh?

the DS was necessary to enhance burn in the combustion area. so the new head area is so well designed that the single spark is sufficient enough. think about it, they are getting 95 Hp from the single spark with the new head. the DS old head was also putting out 95hp. besides the new head no other physical changes.
