Does anyone know how to theme SMF?

Sqweak, I think you've themed SMF before right?  This thing needs a little CSS love.  I don't mind pitching in, but I've never themed SMF before...

We actually did a lot of work on this theme.  You can see the original black22 if you go to smf forums.  We changed a lot of colors, both background and text, and fixed some of the php code that just wasn't correct from the start.

It could use more love, compared to the dml or advrider, but we (mitt and big) didn't have enough time and talent to take it to the next level.

The other problem, is trying to take an existing theme and tweak it, versus starting from a clean smf default theme.  There was a lot of bad practices in our theme, that we did not fix.  The problems are in the .php file, and not the css, so that is a big no-no.

I am not sure how this theme got broke - it only happened in the last week - before that there were no errors, tiny portal was working, and things were running great.  I think painter might have nuked something when doing an update or a maintenance.
