695 suspension height adjustment

I've been told the suspension ride height is adjustable on the 695.  Allegedly it was common for dealers to adjust some of them to a "low" height for sale to shorter legged people.

Does anyone know the procedure to A: confirm which setting a bike is on., and B: change the setting?

Thanks!!

Welcome to the board.

Does your bike have an adjustable rear ride height adjuster?

It's located next to the rear shock.

695 ride height adjuster rod is not adjustable. Maybe you can use one from S2R bikes to make it adjustable.
Stock seat height is 770mm vs S2R at 800mm - that's a lot. 20mm are due to the lower seat - new seat just over $ 200, but I'm sure you can find a used for less.

Also to be considered: the rather soft stock springs will make the bike sag more than it should, especially if you're over 150-160 pounds. That part can easily be adjusted and will mean a lot to get right (let's say +/- 30 mm riders sag?) It's the two preload rings high up on your rear shock.

Adjusting the rear ride height (by new rod and/or preload rings) will change the geometry. The bike will be easier to turn and you should take your time to get used to the new ride. (new seat will not transform the bike geometry)

If you end up adjusting the rear and raising it, remember that you can also raise the front to compensate (that is, IF you feel that the bike has become too easy to turn) On the 695 the forks can be positioned lower in the fork triples, to raise the front by 10-15 mm (at least that is how it looks on the factory pictures)

Ask again if I'm confusing you [thumbsup]

- The M695 does not come stock with adjustable ride height capability.  The suspension link is a fixed length and there is only one setting.

- The seat of the M695 is shaved for lower standover height.

The seat can be swapped out for a non-M695 seat to gain some leg-room (that's what I did).  This is likely what you heard about in terms of hi/lo "settings."

The fixed-length suspension link can be changed out for an adjustable one pretty easily.  I use one by Eastern Cycle and they have versions for stock-->lower and stock-->higher height.  The tie-rod adustment is fully variable and not fixed A or B position.  Do you want to go higher or lower?

As stop already pointed out, make sure your sag numbers are good (i.e., spring preload) and consider a spring or shock change if things are out of whack.   I run my M695 about +15mm in the rear and stock height up front, with correct sag all the way around.

To your original question....M695 is not height adjustable in stock form.

Thanks everyone for the replies.    I need more suspension suspension height out of mine.  The bike is just flat short.     Will look into the suggested suspension adjustments for starters and see how that works out.
