Who wants to talk to me about slaves?

Was randomly down at a dealer ship in Ft. Myers (seemed like real nice guys btw and gave me a kickstand puck) and got talking about clutch slaves.  They were trying to sell me an EVO (IIRC about $140 which seems like a good deal).

Anyway, have done a little archive searching and think i am going to swap out to help my aching hands an ease the Boston commute this spring.

Any strong opinions on brands or smoking good deals out there.

Do they help with the clutch pull that much Major? I've been thinking about getting one myself, but I really don't think the pull is that hard to begin with imo. I'm sure I'll think differently when I am in traffic during the summer tho.

I've heard good reports on the Evo and the Yoyodyne.  I have an Evo on my bike and it did reduce the pull, but not amazingly so.  I got it mostly because I'd heard the standard unit would leak.  It has been trouble-free now for six years.  I rode Rolling Thunder last year and the reduced pull made the ride more tolerable.

I've been running a Yoyodyne for 5 years, zero trouble, lever effort significantly lower than OEM.

Nope, never took one out.  I'll have to do that.  I swapped to shorties over the winter as well. I like the difference they make.

Most of the units ive seen, which is only yoyodyne, oberon and evos have a rubber seal on the piston head. its a piece that can easily be had for a few bucks for a replacement kit. And to be honest, i dont see why a unit would fail unless it was manufactuer poorly or excessive grime was allowed to get in contact with it., aside from the rubber going bad that is. So i wouldnt look into the warranty thing too much. the yoyodunes and evos have a 10 year warranty against failure i think.

The warranty isn't for the seal, it's for damage caused by failure of the seal. So if your seal happens to fail and the unit starts leaking they'll replace it for free. Also if you happen to have other stuff happen like say a clutch hub nut come loose and kill your unit with drilling, they'll replace it at half cost.

Yes they do, that's why I got mine (Yoyodyne, been working fine for me).  My clutch pull was already light enough to begin with (and it got even lighter), I just wanted more than a couple of mm for slipping the clutch when necessary.

i had an evo on my monster, and like a tard i forgot to take it off when i traded it in...otherwise i'd be using it on my 749. its a real slick unit, i like the idea that it has a bearing in there for the clutch rod to spin on if needed.
