Has anyone downloaded and used this app?
My wife is wanting a GPS for xmas for her car and I was looking at
the tom tom app for the iphone and the car mount. Any opinions?

Why?

Iphone comes with GPS already.

I dont think it has turn by turn directions, but I could be wrong.  Garmin is better than Tom Tom I have the Garmin app on my BB storm and it works just as the actual garmin device.  I believe there are mounts for Iphones so it would be basically the same thing.

The iPhone has the AT&T navi app that you canpay $10 a month for. But, I downoaded the Navigon app for $90. And it doesn't require a subscription. My dad has the AT&T app, so I've used both. I prefer the Navigon. It felt more comfortable and easy for me. There are a bunch of apps available ranging from free to a couple hundred dollars. Some of the pluses I like on the Navigon is the connection to my address book (don't remember if the AT&T app has it) and the iPod controls. I also like the GUI and the way it lays out directions. And the ability to customize the route parameters. It also does a really good job of finding addresses on military bases. I've had prblems with other gps systems going "IZ_" when you input something on a military base.

Well the 3G doesn't have the GPS so you have to have cell reception to be able
to navigate. Being in north idaho cell reception can be spotty in many areas  :)
The Tomtom iphone mount has a GPS chip in it so when you don't have cell
reception it will still navigate. I just wondered if anyone had FHE with the program before
I drop $90 on it.

I don't have FHE with the Tom Tom but the Garmin had a seven day free trial.
