I was removing the crank case breather  and noticed these wires running from my battery's + and - to nowhere...does anybody know what they were suppose to go to... i looked for a connection but found nothing...can i remove them? There is a 15v fuse on them too if that helps..

still can't see your pic on the forum, pasted the link into a browser, it's definitely for a battery tender.

yes, but you can't use the url from your hosting site. What I did was right clicked on the pic from your link and got the direct link to the picture which is http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2574/4114878105_9fef01a150.jpg

that will work with the [ img ] [ /img ] html

That doesn't look as clean as the battery tender cable. I'm thinking home-made heated vest power cable? Looks like it's seen a short once too.

... battery tender cable ... heated vest cable ... melting could be from resting on a hot engine part ... 15A fuse is a largish fuse for a bike ... auxillary some thing or another ... humph ... intresting, cant say for sure but my guess is it doesnt need to be plugged into anything on the bike.  Ha;- so - not helpful ... Oh yeah, the underlying question was whether or not it's necessary.

No, it isn't.
