Last week a colleague turned me on to Zoe Keating.

Looping's pretty cool. I've seen Robert Fripp and Phil Keaggy do it on guitar and create some really cool compositions. David Torn also comes up with some cool looping stuff.

Wow, thanks for the lead -- time to go music shopping!  I love the sound of the cello, and she's got a fascinating sound.

I'm listening a lot lately to Crooked Still, a band that's doing some amazing new things with traditional, old-time music. One of the most distinctive things about their sound is the cello that gives a powerful, percussive backbone to the whole thing.
By hammer and hand all arts do stand.
