Until the iphone can work as a deluxe ipod touch w/ prepaid service, I'm out. I don't generally like people and rarely use my phone, so I roll prepaid. I pay $20 every three months and have about a hundred bucks balance on my phone because I don't want to talk to anyone.

I do have an ipod touch and use it a lot.

1) it'll never happen

2) why would you want it to?

never is a pretty long time. once the iphone is a dead technology (or at least dying), perhaps. I'm in no rush. I have my phone for emergency use and if the ipod could make calls, I'd have one less thing to carry and make sure it was charged up.

i have found that the folks who are obsessed with the iphone are usually trend followers.  my sister in law and her husband, cases in point.  they would have a penis grafted onto their foreheads if everyone else was doing it.

the iphone is interesting, but for 90% of users, it is just an expensive replacment bill waiting to happen.  i need a phone for two main purposes:  long talk time and the ability to use it as a hockey puck, because i drop mine all the time.

i have a blackberry flip and i regret it.  i like the keyboard, but it is too fragile for me.  my last phone (samsung something or other) survived not one but TWO 60mph skid trips when i dropped it riding the bike.  somehow, they work their way out of my pocked to escape.

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

Jajajajajajaja  :D

I agree a lot of people dont even use 25% of the Iphone's potential, heck most people dont even read the manual for anything they buy..... Then you have them sayin' "God, I wish this thing could do this, it'd make my life easier". Well dumb ass, read the F**** manual so you know what it can and cant do! But speaking from my own personal experience, to ME my iphone is indispensable and having a little (limited) mac on the palm of my hand which talks and plays nice with absolutely everything else I have is invaluable (even control protools or logic pro right from my phone), so.... I dont know what I would do without it, I can remember a time when I used to carry around a laptop to do 85-90% of the things I get done on my iphone today. But hey, to each its own.....

Also Id rather have people buying it out of trend and getting a hang of it so the industry keeps developing the technology and similar platforms as well as content delivery systems evolving than to STILL be stuck with Nokia and Motorola because most people are lazy assses who dont even know what an SMS is and how to send/receive them..... Woaaahhhhwwwww MAGIC.....

And please dont tell me that all that same people (trend followers) weren't the ones who would also go out and buy the latest Motobullshit phones, buttpebble crack, etc etc etc...... At least now they're getting a great product that is still great even if they're mentally retarded and cant figure out how to use it.... Dont look at the 35+ crowd, look at the young generations that have such an amazing tool in their everyday life, for school/university, apps that help at work, podcasts, itunes U, any info at the tip of your finger, or online search, etc etc etc come on man! It is exponential growth.... Look at what kids are doing with iphones, using the accelerometer and such to send wireless controls to a full size car they hacked and driving it from a phone! What were you or your generation doing back then? Punching holes in cards and making shure they were in the right order so you could see a triangle dot move around the screen and draw a box or some lame chess game? Ohhh, not even I bet...... Playing Tron over Telnet?  [laugh]

Say whatever you say, just like now we can start to see the impact the ipod has had on the music industry (and how it shifted the paradigm) and customer sales, etc etc etc just like the sony walkman back in the 80's...... Perhaps by 2015 well be able to look back at the Iphone and say "Jesus did that shake things up or what?" Youll see, I hate to say it.....

As far as the ATT Bill goes, Ive had an iphone since it first came out and Ive never ever ever been an ATT customer, I have mine with Tmobile. Again, seek and you shall find. There's always workarounds to having to bend over to a corporation and taking it all in...... But again you need to be on the more active/bright minded side of things to figure that out and DIY.......

Not trying to offend anyone here, so please dont take it the wrong way..... Just trying to give a diff. perspective of the same thing.......  ;)

Meh, Useful sure-indispensable? I doubt it. Looking at the younger generations, most of 'em just use 'em to make the beast with two backs off in meetings and play videogames in class.

I liken it to the internet-most powerful search tool ever for any sort of knowledge one could ever want.

What does 99% of the population do with it? Order stuff they're too lazy to go get and look at porn.

If the state had not cut funding for the mental institutions, this project could never have happened.
