What's the most you can chop the stocker lown mount cans?  I cut off about 3.5" last chop and truthfully, I would rather the cans be about 4-6" long.  How far can it be taken?  I can see the metal tubes inside my cans now and they are doing absolutely nothing, so I figured more could be chopped off...maybe all the way back to near where the tubes connect at the front of the can.
Thanks for any input. [beer]

Also, is this really how the cans are built?  I stuck a tape measure into mine and I feel plates not shown in this diagram.

that is not the exhaust path in any of the cans i've seen.

just a straight tube with some baffles to shut most of the exhaust pulse to the sides.  people remove the baffles to get a straight-pipe with less silencing.

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

The stockers do route like that. basically. IF you took a chop saw to one you'll see what appears to be 3 tubes on the inside. But Iv'e got no idea of your x-length... You *could* drill the rivets at both ends and just pull the stupid thing apart. Yes it'll probably be a pain in the ass - but then you'd be sure.
-Throttle's on the right, so are the brakes.  Good luck.

Cut them as short as you want. No matter where you cut them you will be bypassing the other chambers. weather it be an inch of the tail or all the way to your "X" distance. Also there are two walls inside the exhaust which creates chambers so there are no bends.

FYI I was the second person offering this service on TOB when the first guy couldn't do it any more.

I forgot that text was on the picture I linked...that guy was confused.
I edited the picture and the text.

I basically want to cut it down to just before the baffle first downstream of the catalytic converters.  I'll cut off the aluminum housing, weld a custom cap on and shine the stainless chopped can.  I think it will look nice and sound hellacious.

Could the last short tube be tapered to correct for backpressure?
