On 07 S2R1K, I noticed the forks vibrate/shake under hard braking.  Under normal or light braking, everything is fine.  Could that be warped brake discs?

Some more background info - the bike has 5K miles and it's new to me.  The forks/shock setup is stiff for my weight.  I am 150 geared up.

Thanks

It sounds like your setup is wrong for your weight. I suggest getting the best book for setting up your machine...Sportbike Suspension Tuning by Andrew Trevitt. Get it here. http://getwelltrev.blogspot.com/

Side note, Trev is one of the most courageous guys I know. He is a member of the Sportbike Magazine, who you may or not know about. He injured himself and is paralyzed from the waist down.

Buy the book from his site and help support him. I ordered one and he has signed it. Not only is it a great book ( must have) it helps a great guy.

Thanks.  Next time my local dealer has a setup day, I will sure to bring it in for a suspension tune-up.   [thumbsup]

Unless the forks are bottoming out on hard braking, it is more likely you are dealing with a brake problem.  With your weight, that does not sound like the problem.  The vibration could be from poorly bedded brakes, warped rotors or the rotors not moving on the buttons.  Since the bike is an '07 I assume it is still under warranty?  If so speak to the dealer first.
