well its simple have a look ,the scoop directs more air along the sump and oil filter and bottom of the head and  working like another oil cooler i ran my bike for two years without one so i did notice the difference when i put one on and they tidy  up the ugly starter motor , but like i said never did any city driving , my bike stayed around 85-95 c
