Imagination + Engineering = Imagineering

For those who are old enough, remember the STP racer toy you had as a kid -- pull the gear plastic stick that spun the motor and your little lakester toy would go racing across the parking lot...

One of the new proposals for IndyCar (Indianapolis 500 stuff) to replace the current corporate blah racers now.  I really miss the days of when teams built their own cars and their were multiple engine choices and AJ Foyt and other drivers would beat someone's ass for proposing a stupid idea as below.

STP DRAG RACERS! WOOO!

Back on topic, I wish they'd reintroduce Can-Am style, minimal-regulation racing.

That way cars like this would have somewhere to compete.

I think this is a damn ugly car and cannot imagine seeing 33 of them running around Indy.

I've actually thought about this as a support series for Indycar or ALMS at road courses. I'd like to see a no holds bared series that has a couple different classes, production based vs. one off prototype that would run one at a time and have 3 laps to put in the fastest time possible around the track with the top 5 or so doing a run off with a class winner and an overall winner.

Sort of like drag racing around a road course.

Exactly, but for insanely fast purpose built cars.
