I have one of those expensive LED tail lights which has a circuit board with about 80 LEDs and some diodes and resistors , about 18 of the LEDs are not working even though the circuit seems complete and all the resisters and diodes  test OK ,i have a multimeter and do basic electronic testing ,There are no dry joints either , How can i get this thing fixed it cost $100 but as its surface mount its not easy to work on and has no apparent fault?

if it isnt working, chances are one of the solder joints snapped off from excessive vibration.

most of the time is a resistor or capacitor that hook loose since they aren't attached as securely as the LED.

Or if you know how to solder, you can reinforce all the joints with extra solder. i ended up replacing all my LEDs with surface mount LEDs. much brighter, but lots of work and time consuming.

The whole thing is suface mount  but all the joints  and component joints are OK

I am puzzled

tiggerkai

are the leds brighter than usual. it might help if you post a pic of the board

Just one small section does not work 12 LEDs in the section and 6 are the active ones the rest all work fine on stop and tail circuits

You have a LED Panel made with something like this?

Where did you get it?

You can recheck your work, or send it off to be repaired. It sounds more like you just made a mistake checking the board.

The problem is that the compnents are mounted on both sides of the board and are surface mount I cannot acces all the pins as they are obscured by other components ,so solder iron or meter tips cannot get access , i dont know how this was manufactured , i am trying to contact the mnufacturer ,
