I'm in Norway and the OP is in our neighbour country Sweden.

In my case it only took a few days to leave the US, so no USPS rant from me.
The Norwegian Post on the other hand  [bang] one month to move it from one side of the building to the other  [roll]

First time they screwed up though.

Just kidding

What is He Man's story about how long it took to ship to you.

I was asking him what carrier and service did he choose?

I bought some exhaust pipes from a guy in new york state. He sent them the cheapest USPS possible.

They took about 3 weeks to get here and I live Ohio.

I think I could have driven to this guys house in maybe 10 hours, who knows.

I shiped it USPS Priority international, it reached norway in 3 days. but it took a month for it to leave customs.

USPS cheapest way is Parcel Post, it takes usually 2-3 weeks to get to you.  Its usually only marginally cheaper than Priority, and up to 5x as long.

I think parcel post, they just throw it in the warehouse, wait 3 days and then decide to find a truck with empty space going to the area, and squeeze it in. Because theres no way it takes 3 weeks to reach Cali from NY unless your bumming rides.

I remember reading a story about an Italian businessman who decided one year to mail all his Christmas cards to friends and family in Italy from the US, while on a business trip.

They got to the recipients faster and cheaper than if he had mailed them domestically. [laugh]

1. You can't control Customs. That is all dependent on where you are shipping to, shipments in, etc. It doesn't matter what carrier you would have used. USPS, UPS, FedEx, DHL, etc all enter the same Customs que.

2. Agreed on USPS Parcel Post. I think whenever they have room, they throw the box on it. I can spend the minimum on an envelope and I can get my parents a letter in Arizona from Ohio in like 4 days. Parcel Post is what you said......sits in a make the beast with two backsing warehouse until they have room on some make the beast with two backsing truck.

It took 3 weeks from Upstate New York to Columbus Ohio!!!!!!

UPS is where it is at. They make the beast with two backsing rock and I don't work for them, just use them for work shipping. Shit never happens with them. I have a nice little print out of the services I can use and how long it will take to get there, guaranteed.

Due to certain circumstances, I am forced to ship packages next day early AM which is guaranteed delivery before 8:30am.

I shipped once and it got there at 9:30am.

UPS fully refunded that shipment cost, which wasn't cheap. Our UPS Invoice is well over 4,000 pages a month, but I went through and found the date I shipped on and they honored that commitment; the charged was reversed.
