I think you're wrong there.

No, I am not. Unless our entire legal department is wrong, I maintain I am right. Trust me. This wasn't reviewed and decided by me. It made it to our General Counsel who I am sure contacted our retained 3rd party employment counsel.

Shouldn't the police be involved?

Only time I had jury duty was a trial regarding a woman that ran up a similar CC bill on her employer buying electronics and toys for her home.  She was charged with grand larceny and a couple of other counts.  It was a criminal trial.  She was guilty in my book and in the jury foreman's book.  Every other jurist agreed with us until one woman thought we should take pity on her because she was in financial trouble (WTF!).  We were asked to judge whether or not she made the purchases ILLEGALLY, not whether or not she deserved to treat herself to useless gifts because she had a rough life......we hung that jury because of that moron.

The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary. H. L. Mencken

It is most definitely theft as we are now liable to pay off his balance.

Unfortunately, it is too costly to sue him for the amount as the legal fees would eat away if not negate the money owed.

And we are not talking about a couple hundred dollars here. last I checked it was nearly 12k.
The guy sitting 2 desks down from me is the compliance guy for our org.  He came across a guy charging $30K on the company AMEX card for personal use, amount other small items.  He was also terminated.  Can't believe people actually rationalize and think it's ok to do that.

What did the guy buy with $30K, you asked?  A Harley.  [bang]  And yes, he had to repay the $30K.

Now that's a feel-good-story for the rest of us who follow the rules.  :)
