I'm about 6'.  I bought a used Dark 800 with the low seat, then bought the stock seat later from someone here.  The low seat was killing me.  It's lower but also sloped forward so you're closer to the ground and the tank.  It mashed the boys and cramped my arms, it had to go.  The regular seat is great for me.

I'm in Portland, OR PeeWee.  If you're nearby let me know.  You can come by and try out the lowered seat, it's sitting on my shelf.

This is about suspension height, not seat height.  ;)
