Bike completely shutting down during constant speed

A friend came to me and asked me to help her fix her bike. She knows that I frequented TOB a lot so she asked if i could post up on the DMF and ask. Its not a monster, its a Suzuki Savage 650.

While riding at constant speed, the bike will completely shut off. It doesnt matter if you are going 70mph or 20mph. If you keep the throttle at a constant the bike will just turn off.

Any ideas as to why?!   ???
Bikes I've jumped and/or crashed:
84 Kawasaki KDX 80 - Bike i learned to ride on when I was young(er)
84 Kawasaki KDX 200 - First naked bike. crashed so frequently the plastics wouldnt stay on.
99 KTM 620 - If you could even get the thing kick started in the first place...
02 Yamaha Zuma - not a motorcycle but still crashed and jumped it way too many times.
04 Harley Road King Classic - Awesome story behind this
06 Ducati S2R 1000 - neither.... yet.

Any notion on the service history, age and miles of the bike?

Ever had a new fuel filter?
How do the plugs look?
Check the lines from the tank for a pinched breather?
- Just tossing out some possibilties
-Throttle's on the right, so are the brakes.  Good luck.

Is the bike just bored?

are you sure its not a thermal or length of time issue (i.e. after 20 minutes, the bike will shut off or after it reaches a certain temp?)

Sounds like an electrical issue. Usually if it motor or fuel they tend to act up a certain rpm's / speed. If the bike makes it up to 70 and just shuts down, perhaps something is vibrating and a wire is loosing contact?

The op said speed is not a factor. Though that doesn't eliminate an electrical issue as the cause - just probably not vibration shaking something loose.

With a problem like a kinked tank breather a vacum will firm in the tank and eventually starve the engine. Let it sit for a bit tank pressure evens to atmo again and the bike goes. But a heat based issue could manifest similarly. Run the bike for a while, gizmo x overheats and cuts out, bike stops. Let sit for a while and it cools and the bike starts working again

She claims that speed is not an issue. When it happens, she says it will fire right up after. My thoughts are that it is an electrical problem, but the shop she took it to was unable to find anything wrong with the electronics.

Problem is all will test well when the bike runs.  If the bike stumbles and stalls the problem is probably fuel related.  If it instantly dies it is probably electric.  If it instantly starts you probably have a bad connection.
