Some of the foam earplugs come in different sizes.  I found the slim or junior version to fit me best....better than customs!

And, you can get them to match your helmet!

I asked this question a year ago, about 6 months later than i shoudl have.

Tinitis SUCKS.

I actually prefer riding with plugs - think you will find most people do once they get used to it.

WEAR PLUGS EVERY RIDE.

Wind noise is the enemy.

Sound out of the exhaust is nothing.

Let's see, raced minibikes when 2 strokes were all the rage (remember Noguchi Yamahas?).    Raced dirt bikes in my teens and 20's.   More 2 strokes, and loud ones at that.   I've been doing machine work for almost 30 years.   Large, loud machines.    Been riding for about 38 years.     I can't stand having anything in my ears.    Amazingly enough, I can still hear fairly well at almost 50.    Just lucky I guess.

I think I hear good ....but it's the noise in the silence that's just crazy.

Sounds just like sitting out in a field in the late Summer after dark.

The multitude of the Insect world here in Ohio is at it's peak at the end of August.......all screaming at the best of their ability !

Fastenal makes a great pair of Earplugs that are on a thin plastic string . I can fit them in my ears so that they seal out the sound of my Ducati 1098-R ....I just feel the engine.

Without the " plugs ," I can't bare the dbs of the Termi race Exhaust on the " R." It is a Heavenly song if you can take it.

It's 10:25 am, why do you ask?

It's been about 30 years.    I'm just going by TV volume levels, hearing things on the bike, and other minute details.    I'm sure there is some damage.   But it isn't having any effect yet.    It's not time to eat a bullet yet.

I would never have considered earplugs if not for the members of this board, now I can't imagine riding any real distance without 'em.  The two blocks to work?  Nah, too much effort.  Takes longer to put 'em in than just get to the office.  Heading to the gym, into the city, or anywhere farther than about 2km, and the plugs go in.

The difference is surprising.  It's definitely true that there's less fatigue when you get off the bike.

Re: plugs with strings...  I had a pair with a stiff plastic string between plugs, and I had to remove it.  It'd rub against the inside of the helmet and sound far worse than without plugs.

Wear ear plugs. After my S4Rs with full Termis and a noisy Arai RX7 I got really scared I was going to go deaf. I used to get a "beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee" noise in my right ear (usually after races or track days).

The 749 wasn't as bad but, man that S4Rs was just way too much.
