Any critical reasons why I should not run a Pilot Road 2 in the rear with a Power 2CT on the front?  I am currently running Power 2CTs front and rear but the rear is all used up and am going to switch to the Road 2 for mileage.  The front Power still has some tread left, but will need to be replaced soon.  The front has lasted through three rears, so mileage is not an issue.  Motorcycle Superstore currently has the PP2CT front for $97 and the PR2 for $120.

It's gererally ok to run a stickier tire up front, so that mix is ok.  If you run a stickier tire in the rear you may lose the front end and low side.

that was my set up for about 3,000 miles until the front tired died of unsafe road sex.

I'm runnin a pilot power up front and a pilot road in the rear. It was recommended by my shop for more even wear. So far so good!

I like this thread... and the Tire thread at the top of this page... It's validating my next tire purchase and setup.

I did the same 'sport' front / 'sport-touring' rear deal with a Diablo front / Diablo Strada rear.
Worked fine.

what i forgot to mention, i dont have a valid base for this... but i think it has some merit.

THe front tire and rear tire are suppose to work in tandem with each other in terms of their tread design. And the tread design is most important in wet conditions. I dont know if its unsafe to ride in the rain with 2 diff tires because of the way they shed water or what not. thats why i decided to go with the same tire in the end. And to be honest i think my front tire would dry rot before it wears out. I got about 12 000 miles of the front of a pilot power.

On my last set of Pilot Road 2s, the front wore out before the back (but only on the sides - the center still looked good).  Damn twisty commute. ;D

I've been running a PP2CT front/ PR2CT rear for a little over 1000 miles. Still no sign of wear on the rear and usually by this point it would be getting alittle flat in the middle.
