"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

Nice looking bike, it's just that the power to weight ratio goes all to hell as soon as I sit my (_!_) on it.

Drunken Monkey

While I love this idea and I hope it's built, my fear is that far too many folks will look at a Sub 300 Lbs, 50+HP bike as a "beginner" bike.

And from there, it never quite gets off the ground.

Maybe with the Moto III class coming, there will be a revival in the whole "genre" of supersingles.
I own several motorcycles. I have owned lots of motorcycles. And have bolted and/or modified lots of crap to said motorcycles...

With high end suspension components and that power to weight ratio, then yeah I would consider it. I would rather have a small light motorcycle that handles well than a high power race replica that can't get out of first gear without being in felony realm.

fwiw, anybody that revs out first gear on one of those things on the street deserves to be on their back or launched in the air.

i got over the "zomg, my bike does ~100mph in first gear!" thing like 10+ years ago.

It depends largely on if the suspension and brake components are of a very good quality. Something that is pretty decent stock and with just some revalve/setup work is ready to race.

A KTM 525 or the 530 are some sweet motors and on a tight road or track can be a real kick in the ass.
