I've searched through the forum and not found an answer to my question.

My headlight lens took a rock and needs to be replaced.  As with anything else on the bike, when it's time to replace, it's time to upgrade/mod.

That said, can anyone confirm for me that the headlight on my '05 S4R can be replaced with any standard 7" round headlight?  There are several "upgrade" kits for the old H6024 sealed beam kits that incorporate some of the features I want, but I need to verify that the 7" round car style headlamp will work with our trim ring/bucket combination.

Thanks for the help.

Don't have an answer to your question, but what about taking the headlight assembly or your bike to an auto parts store and trying a 7" headlight to see if it works.

Welcome to the Board.

Your headlight is not 7", it is slightly larger.  Unfortunately, Ducati sells only the complete assembly, fortunately BMW uses the same headlight on some models and sells individual parts.

There is a cheaper alternative.  The headlight off a Honda CB400:

The Monster (pre-2004) also shares the same brake light and headlight as the Moto Guzzi V11:

The Bosch lens is similar to that on the BMW R100R/Mystic; let me get into the workshop and see if I can get some pics and confirmation on this.
