Battery good, something else bad...

Just like so many others, one day while at work my bike would not start. Gauges swept etc etc, had to push start.
Charged battery overnight and ran for a few days, then samething. I got a new battery and bike ran for about a week and again nothing.

From reading all the other posts here about similar issues I've tried ( I think everything). Checking/cleaning ground and battery connections, fuses, other loose fittings.

Any other possibilities that I'm missing?

Perhaps a bad voltage regulator (fairly common and easily remedied) or a bad stator.

Nevermind. There's this cool thing called a warranty that's good for another 30 days -which includes bike pick up. Sweet!

I just got done going through the 19 pages of plastic tanks and their problems, so I guess that. Everything else I really just learn to live with or make work. I just don't know of any "common" issues that could be brought up since warranty is almost done.

Issues that people are having with plastic tanks for example, I've just dealt with it until reading through it and realizing it's a common enough problem to have it replaced, which I'm sure would be easier under factory warranty then good faith or emissions.

THis might sound wierd...
I had an intermittent starting issue.  Gauges would sweep, etc., hit the start button...nothing.  Bike would start every 5th or 6th push of the start button.  Got 'er home and on a hunch took apart the starter button pod.  Turns out a very small creature had gotten inside and spun some sort of extremely small silky nest thing which was preventing the starter button from making a proper connection.  I cleaned out the pod and presto!!!!!  Fires right up everytime now.

Bizzaro, but it's something else to look at. Atleast I get to take it in under warranty, otherwise I'd be going to even more extreme measures to get it fixed myself.

I had this issue

with a brand new charged battery

I'd hit the starter and there would just be a click

bettery read between 13-14 volts

I'd put it on my trickle charger and it would fire right up

frustrating as all hell

all my connections are good

battery new

stator was reading 13+ while running

I have yet to open it up but I wonder if it is from the brushes in the starter motor being used up?
