Fruity

hi fellas,

i'm contemplating changing my exhaust configuration which is a 2-1-2 into a 2-1 system. how would it change my bike in terms of
i) performance
ii) sound
iii) fuel consumption

bike is a 2004 monster s4r with pc3, open airbox and current pipes are termi slipons.
i've done quite a bit of search on this forum and other forums as well but can't really find answers that explain a 4v condition. only found info on 2v. so appreciate if anyone can give some feedback.

thanks  [beer]

I've got no FHE with them, but what I remember hearing is:

2-1 systems tend to be loud, as they don't usually have a large enough muffler.
Usually there's tuning issues with 2-1 systems that result in less power.

as long as there's low and mid range i'm happy.

tuning issues even on the dyno? would a good tuner be able to handle that?

cheers.

A good tuner should be able to get it set up on a dyno.

If you can, get a dyno run before you change it, so you can see what you got.

A 2 into 1 system should gain low end power due to the scavenging effect.

Yes it has a chance of being louder due to only having a single mufler.

If possible have your dyno guy tune each cyl individually. You would be surprised at the discrepancies between each map.

It's like I keep saying:  Those who would sacrifice a free range session for a giant beer, deserve neither free range time nor a giant beer.

i have had guys reach back and grab my crotch in an attempt to get around me. i'll either blow in their ear or ask them politely to let go of my wang.

Fruity

thanks guys. really appreciate that. i'll get the dyno guy to do just that.
