Hey guys!

I have a Ducati Monster 2004 620 ie, and had it standing outside for last 4 days, tried to start it today, suddenly the key doesnt turn from "Lock" position - totally jammed!

I tried jiggling, wd40 and everything, no luck. Starting to think maybe someone tried to steal it and tampered with the keyhole... Otherwise another suspicion is that the orange light that usually blinks between the speedometer and rpm doesnt blink so maybe flat battery?

Any ideas what could be wrong? Does the key get jammed if the battery is flat?

Appreciate your help!!!

The lock tumbler can be sticky, but that sounds severe.  Try to wiggle the handle bars a little bit also while turning the key, to make sure it isn't your handle bar lock isn't preventing the key rotating.

Probably move this to tech.
I'm pretty sure the light only blinks for the 1st 24 hours of inactivity, so that doesn't necessarily mean you have a flat batt.
Have you wiggled the bars while attempting to move the key?

A dead battery will not prevent the ignition from unlocking.  Have you tried another key?

The key needs to turn for that to happen.

Did you try lubricating the lock pin?

Just to make sure you understood the suggestion...

Sit on the bike, get it off the sidestand, try pushing or pulling lightly on one grip while trying to turn the key.

And, you've got to push the key down a little to turn it from the 'steering lock' locked position.

tried again, tried everything, sprayed a lot of wd40 and so on, no luck...

time to take it to the garage maybe? (but they said it will cost 550dollars to fix this.... i live in norway btw, v expensive..)

Otherwise is this something locksmiths can fix?
