I need help with my gas light!

How's it going everyone? I ride a 02 monster S4. My gas light is not comeing on now! I ran out of gas on the 405 in the carpool, what a bad filling as I coasted off  in time. The light does trun on with the key in befor start up. Then it's light's out from there! It did work befor it had been dropped over in the garage. :-(  Can it be the gas senseor? I do have 18,000 on it now.  Thank's! I hope someone can help. Have a good one.

Could be the sensor, or the bulb.  You're much better off setting the trip meter to zero when you fuel up and then figuring how far you can safely go on a tank.

The connector on the  bottom of the tank is for the fuel sensor and fuel pump.  Two wires are for the sensor and two wires are for the fuel pump.  I think the black/white and black are for the pump, pins 3 and 4.  Maybe someone with a wiring diagram for an 02 S4 could check?  If you jump those two wires and the low fuel light now lights with the key on you have a bad sensor.

Thank's guy's! I do know that I get 166 miles out of a full tank. So I fill up at 120 or so just to be safe. I just would like to have that light working for my own backup! I should check the wires agin, mybe I over looked something. It would be nice if it was the wires but I know I can't be that lucky!:-) Thank's agin!
