Anyway, I'm looking forward to my flight with glee and trepidation. I definitely want to take video of the event.
I'm not sure I'll do the loop-de-loops though. Maybe I can decide once I'm in the air?

It cost more to do aerobatics. Just go for it!  The butterflys only last a second and then you're already feeling the G's when you pull up to do a loop.  Take a camera in the plane and have one on the ground.  If you can..wear a helmet cam or have D rig something to hook to the shoulder straps of the parachute so you can leave the camera on during the aerobatics.
It's all done rather quickly so get your money's worth!   [thumbsup]  D will want to get pics of you in the cockpit during your fly by.

BTW..loading that clip right now!

Thanks for the thinks, Adam!
Dietrich got me the "aerobatic flight" for the gift.
Ooooh, wearing a helmet cam would be cool! They'll let me do that?!

Can't wait to see your other vid and photos!!!

fear of flying can be subsided by a little red pill called Valium; works wonders.

IZ - My Dad did a gliding trip in the Tucson area last year. He said it was awesome.

Let me see if I can go an dig up the photos so more people can see how awesome it must be.

I'm wondering if he took off from Ryan Airfield?

Skydiving over Sedona next.   [thumbsup]

I am going to give them a call tonight, so I will check on where he flew out of but Ryan Airfield does sound familiar.

I was thinking Davis-Monthan but then realized that is the AF Base he works at!!!!

They live up in the Tucson hills, not really in the city. I hear it is pretty bad.

They just went on their big trip this past weekend up in Northern Arizona. I can't recall where.

they've pretty much over the past 3 years hit everywhere possible in that state worth seeing if you are into outdoor activities.

They've been to that big crater, the falls, blah blah blah.

Jealousy here, but that is what you do when you work your whole life and are sort of retired. You can afford to do cool shit all the time.

We lived in Flagstaff for 3 years when I was going to NAU so we did the Grand Canyon, the meteor crater, Jerome, Prescott, the San Francisco Peaks, Sedona and Oak Creek Canyon EVERYTIME someone visited!  Never get sick of it all!  Havasupai Falls is pretty cool but we never went to the bottom of the canyon.  Lake Powell is awesome too!  Learned how to waterski there.  [thumbsup]

My dad was a weapons loader for the A-10's the first year they took them to DM AFB.  I was just at the airplane graveyard 2 weeks ago.  I lived there for 3 years too and have yet to go that museum.

I took a glider ride last year at the airport in Faibault MN.  It was fantastic.  When I take my vacation this year, I think I will swing by the airport and start taking lessons.  I probably don't have enough cash and/or time to get my license this year, but I can at least get started.  The big incentive is that when taking lessons the cost/hour of flight time is much lower than for tourist flights.

Yup!  Saw that!   [thumbsup]

I have my student glider pilot logbook right here.  I was thinking about doing the same thing.  I wish I had done this before I left AZ a few years ago.  I would've liked to fly over all of those places I lived..South Florida, Seattle & Austin.

My Pops was actually stationed at DM AFB when he joined the service back during the draft.

He joined instead of being drafted as his number was coming up. It was a good fit for him because he loves military aircraft and even got a few incentive rides when he was there. nothing cool like fighter planes, but he has an obession with the real big planes, so a ride in a C-130 was a lot of fun for him.

He hasn't been lucky this time around, but he isn't military, he is a contractor and they make that VERY clear.

He finally treated a General last year that granted him visitor rights to the on base golf course.

What are you taking the video on? Do you have a little camera?
Also, it sounds really noisy - is that just when you are being towed?

Did you take your ride yet Hoyden?!

Yes, it's a noisy ride throughout but you block it out when you're in the middle of the aerobatics!!

The wind sounds cool though!  Here's the clip of the fly-by..

Thanks for the little vid!
Did you wear ear plugs or anything during the ride?
