Couple guys from work, invited me to go this in Sept. I'm wondering if anyone else plans on attending?

No.

(You won't see a lot of sport bikes there.  And certainly few will embrace your love of Italians.  What you will see is a lot of large people sportin' Harley Davidson t-shirts with BBQ stains on them....It's all good--just not my thing.  I have considered attending just to see what it was about though.)

I went once.  If you slightly dislike Harley obnox-racket you will hate every minute you're there.  The hotel parking structures resonate, it's makes it hard to sleep.  The best thing is the people watching, chatting with some of the older folks who are chill and the H.A. poker run.  Most displeasing is the custom-clone weekend warrior attitudes (and it's not everyone but you can tell who doesn't get out much) and the noise.  It's something to experience because you're only a couple of hours from home.  Borrow a harley.

People from my work go every year. As it's been said, you're going to have a lot of obnoxious Harley riders, as well as some cool people that just want to ride. I've been told there are plenty of sportbike guys there as well.

I find most of the mohawk wearing, GSXR1000RR revving participants at sportbike events equally annoying.

But at the same time, I got hit on more times during 1 day of riding a Harley then 4 years of riding, ducatis, triumphs, and Husabergs Cheesy

I might go this year, also planning on attending the HA Redwood Run next year. I'd be doing both on a Dyna though.

You sir are correct... A single jaunt through Oakland I guess hardly qualifies as "riding" hahaha

Well thanks for the input I hadn't considered the resonating parking structures. Had planned to stay at Circus Circus, may end up staying at a friends who lives on the outskirts of town.

It's definately a people watching affair. Lot's of posers as well as genuine old school bikers. Never stayed at circus circus but if you have a street side room ear plugs are advised. The Red and White whorehouse runs were lots of fun although i'm not sure they still have them. A local free magazine named thunderpress (found at a lot of the harley shops and bars )will have a lot of the  events listed in it. Oatmen and virgina city rides are fun but crazy crowded so go early. They are a lot like Mardi Gras... beads everywhere and  tons of cheap leather ass chaps  everywhere.

The ride there ... stops along the way ...That's  what make  the trip for me. You can have a great time if you want. good luck Hog
