does anyone out there know how i would go about changing the ignition timing on 07 s2r800. already have powercomander with custom map on it, leo vince full exhaust and pod filters with stacks. ive changed the timing using and ignition rotor on other bikes.. the s2r looks like its using the flywheel to pickup timing. im looking into upgrading for the lightweight flywheel so while im in there i would like to adjust the timing... im used to messing with carbed bikes so if im way off base here please dont crucify me.

i think it picks it up off the layshaft gear on that bike rather than the flywheel.

Check out the 3rd post on the 2nd page here http://ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=37125.msg655526#msg655526 (Edit: there's some posts from scott_araujo on the 1st page on the subject as well, towards the bottom) and Brad Blacks article http://bikeboy.org/camtime2v.html . I haven't done it but these should give you a good start.

Any particular reason why you want to change it?

The OP is asking about ignition timing, not cam timing.

AFAIK, the Power Commander doesn't allow changes to ignition timing, and nor do stock or DP ECUs. Nemesis and Microtec replacement ECUs do, but you'd be starting again from scratch on the fuel mapping. Possibly there are other ECU-tuning solutions that would help. Fiddling with the pick-up point, even if possible, would change timing across the whole map - not sure why anybody would want to do that.

I didn't know there were ECU's that allowed you to change the ignition timing, that's why I posted up those links. Ya learn something new  every day...
